Traditional Home Project 2

In designing this forest retreat, it was agreed that an olde English cottage would be a fitting model to start with. But instead of strictly duplicating the traditional English cottage style, we asked the question, "What would an Englishman do if he were to build a house in the wilds of the Santa Cruz Mountains today?" Our answer was to create a home that features plaster walls with rough beams, slate floors with radiant heat, and many small dormers to promote ventilation in the summer and provide light during the winter.

A unique feature to this property is a two story outbuilding housing an office above and a horse stable on the ground. The stable doors were designed to be tall enough to allow a rider to enter or exit the stable without the need to dismount.
